The Third Manhole

Tense spy drama set in Vienna where Holly Martins, an American author tries to track down his old friend Harry Lime. During the search he learns that Lime always uses one particular manhole cover to emerge from and return to the cities sewers which provide a safe haven from the authorities. As the film develops Martins develops an obsession with finding the right manhole.
